Monete earned her Bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and a Master’s in Public Policy from Rutgers University. A product of the Boston Public School system, Monete now lives in New York City where she has dedicated herself to working to serve marginalized students in urban school districts.
With a professional background in student organizing, youth development, and public policy research and personal involvement in youth development programs like Summer Search, Bottomline, and SquashBusters, Inc. she also developed a passion for helping innovative, but often under-resourced, nonprofits thrive.
Monete believes in constantly challenging the status quo in education. Educational institutions should to continuously grow to meet the needs of all student. For students in groups that have been historically marginalized, youth development organizations and student groups are excellent tools to provide additional services and create strong communities where traditional schooling lags.
